About
By Your Side
By Your Side, Inc. is an organization that raises and trains dogs to assist individuals living with seizure disorders.
The pups are selected by Angela Bubley and trained for 18
- 24 months before being placed in an approved home.
Each assistance dog learns approximately 80 commands. Opening
doors, alerting to sounds or impending seizures, and picking
up items that have been dropped, are just a few of the many
useful commands we teach the pups.
Recipients must apply, be interviewed, and approved by the
By Your Side, Inc. in order to be eligible.

Lief and LeeAnn are now a certified, By Your Side team. They passed with flying colors! They cruise around together on his Harley, with a custom seat for LeeAnn and her own personal doggie goggles. |
|
When Lief was involved in a terrible motorcycle accident several years ago, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Thankfully, docs were able to resuscitate him, however they told him he would never walk again. They were wrong. Lief, a veteran of The United States Navy, is my pilates instructor and friend. His 2 year old, Shepherd mix, LeeAnn alerts and responds to impending seizures that are triggered by fluorescent lights in public places. LeeAnn was adopted from the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.

GOOD
NEWS!
July
2005
We
applied for, and received a much needed grant for $5,000
from an anonymous donor. We have purchased brand new
ID capes, and new puppies, and a brand new play yard fence
to keep all of the puppies safe. Thank you!
Also
in July, we assisted in raising $3100 for Stefani Lawrence,
one of our recipients in need. Judy Hill of the Tampa
Tribune wrote a lovely article explaining Stefani's needs.
She now has a beautiful, young German Shepherd named Roxie.
Thank you to all the kind folks in Tampa who gave to By
Your Side, in honor of Stefani. We appreciate your
generosity. Stefani is on her way to independence.
During
the Fall of 2005, the local Carrollwood Coldwell Banker
Realtors gave us $500.00. A big thank you to the staff.

and Buzz, her Seizure Alert Dog in their annual charity
benefit.
Amanda
and By Your Side were honored with a $5,000 donation from
the Diva Angels, a women's motorcycle club, to cover the

By Your Side also selects and places pups
in Animal Assisted
Therapy
Programs like Reese, a 3 year old Golden Retriever, with
Angela Lytle. Reese will be working with his new owner,
Angela, as a Therapy Dog at the University of South Florida's
Physical Therapy Dept.
Our
dogs are trained to withstand many temptations....like bunny
rabbits, and hamsters. Interested in finding out more about
the program? Contact me at 813-963-3776.
